Thank you for joining us for the 16th Annual Summer Tour!

This year the club is going to Pendleton, Oregon, home of the Pendleton Round-Up Rodeo. We have three styles of tour shirts this year, all on white with the Summer Tour logo on the front and Summer Tour 2017 on the sleeve.

In a few weeks, we will have samples at club events to check out.

We will start at the Fred Meyer parking lot at Linder and Chinden. Please plan to arrive by 7:30 AM; with a drivers meeting at 7:45 AM; tour packets will be handed out at this time. We will depart shortly thereafter. Each packet will contain a route booklet with points of interest and history, shirts and lots of goodies. There are six miles of interstate driving we will have to navigate in the canyon. Rest and non-ethanol gasoline stops will be noted. We will be traveling thru farmland, forests, high-desert, cattle range, rolling hills, passing near hot springs and traveling along rivers in this section.

Pack a blanket and join us for a picnic lunch in the park, next to the historic Union Hotel. The locals also have a passion for British cars and plan on showing several of their Brit cars during our lunch. The box lunches are provided by the hotel with local meat/cheese sandwiches, chips, fruit or veggies, dessert and a variety of beverages. Cost is $10 per person or bring your own lunch for this picnic.

After lunch, we will drive thru Elgin, over Tollgate Pass and thru several charming small towns on a very scenic and curvy route to Pendleton. You will have several hours to settle into your hotel room and prepare for the evening festivities!

The Welcome reception is at the Oregon Grain Growers Brand Distillery located at 511 SE Court Avenue. We have several large spaces to park cars along the main road thru town here, so be prepared to have your car shine and be seen! The Distillery uses local farmers’ grains to create several spirits for us to sample. A tasting of the local brews from Prodigal Son will also be available to whet your appetite. A light dinner spread and dessert will be available at this indoor/outdoor reception.

On Friday, be prepared to learn about the colorful history of Pendleton. Pendleton Underground tours start every 10 minutes at 9 AM and again starting at 2 PM. You will enjoy a guided 90-minute tour with the cost of $15 per person. We will also have a FREE tour of the Pendleton Woolen Mill and Museum scheduled for the morning and afternoon as well. Signups for both tours will be available via email in May or at the welcome reception. Several other local activities will be provided in tour packets to fill out your day. Friday night is an open night for individual or group dinners. A list of local restaurants will be provided, as well as several discount coupons. Grab a group and socialize away!

Saturday morning we will be able to show off and admire all the LBC’s at Roy Raley Park, located at 1205 SW Court Avenue. This is a well-shaded park, and we will be parking on the grass. Parking begins at 8 AM with the show starting at 9 and ending at 1. Plan to have your car there until 1 PM. Throughout the car show, we will have 30-minute tours set up next door at the Pendleton Round-Up grounds. Sign up for times at the welcome reception or at the car show. Discount tickets for the September 11-16 Pendleton Round-Up will be available for purchase if anyone wants to attend this epic national rodeo.

After the car show, relax a bit and then join us for the awards dinner at Hamley Steakhouse located at 30 SE Court Avenue. The buffet menu has beef brisket and chicken for the main courses with sides and salads. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions, and we will take care of you.

An alternate route for heading home will be available in the tour packets for those wanting to try a different path.

See everyone in June! ~ The IBCC team
